Click&Boat, Europe’s leading yacht charter platform, has acquired Océans Evasion, a French competitor based in Lorient, Brittany.
Océans Evasion, an innovator in the yacht charter industry
Based in Lorient, Brittany, Océans Evasion has been a pioneer of the yacht charter industry for more than two decades. Its strong reputation and long experience, particularly in the sailboat and catamaran segments, will help Click & Boat consolidate its leading position in the online yacht charter market. Building on Océans Evasion’s expertise in sailing trips to remote destinations and upmarket cruises, Click & Boat will expand its services in France and all over the world. “The spirit of Océans Evasion will remain intact as a part of the broader Click&Boat offering. Their digital prowess fits perfectly with our expertise in bespoke boating experiences in remote destinations,” said Jean-Michel Guyomar, co-founder of the company.
The company’s employees will remain in their current HQ in Lorient, which will effectively become Click&Boat’s third office in France following Paris and Marseille. “In the coming months, our digital expertise will boost the visibility of Océans Evasion’s brand, as well as the user experience of its customers. Océans Evasion offers 7,000 boats around the world that perfectly complement what we do at Click&Boat,” said Jérémy Bismuth, Click&Boat co-founder. The deal will help Click&Boat reach or surpass a record turnover of €50m in 2019. Last summer the company raised €4m to expand its yacht charter services by offering to its users new experiences, such as all-inclusive boating holidays.
Click & Boat to offer all-inclusive boating holidays
As a part of the deal, Click&Boat will also acquire the travel agency Océans Voyages, offering all-inclusive boating holidays that include flights, accommodation and transport: a package that is becoming increasingly popular among sailing enthusiasts looking to hire a boat in remote destinations. Users of the Click&Boat platform will thus be able to book all-inclusive yachting experiences in several destinations around the world, while the Océans Voyages team will be supporting customers at every step of their journey. “Our ambition is to make Click&Boat a one-stop shop for boating experiences. In a few clicks you will be able to book anything you need for an unforgettable holiday on the sea, including, flights, hotel accommodation and boat rental,” said Edouard Gorioux, co-founder of the company.
Click&Boat, dubbed “Airbnb of the seas” by CNN, is an online platform that helps private and professional boat owners, as well as yacht charter companies, rent out their boats to yachting aficionados. Nearly all types of boats are listed on the company’s website, from houseboats and sailboats to modern catamarans, motorboats and luxury yachts. Both seasoned and inexperienced sea lovers can rent a boat with or without a skipper, depending on their sailing qualifications and experience.
The company was launched in 2013 by two French entrepreneurs: Edouard Gorioux and Jérémy Bismuth. Beyond France, Click&Boat has established its presence in major yachting destinations such as Spain, Italy, Greece and Croatia, as well as the US, currently offering 30,000 boats in more than 600 locations around the world. The world-famous sailor François Gabart is the official ambassador of the company, as well as an investor.
