Mandarin Oriental announces Q1 opening of Middle Eastern debut
Scheduled for Q1 2019 – 156 Rooms
Situated on the Jumeirah beachfront, the resort features 178 guestrooms and 78 suites. Designed by Jeffrey Wilkes, guetsrooms have been conceived as individual retreats on the Arabian Gulf, featuring a palette of bright blues and earthy tones.
A lobby welcomes guests with a forest of lights leading to the beachfront, whilst fourteen bronze metal trees standing seven, eight and nine metres high – each with 900 lights – create a canopy of crystal and light. The expansive space opens up onto an outdoor area comprising water features, walkways, stone bridges and teak decks creating a path to the shoreline.
The hotel will also host six restaurants and bars, including Tasca, headed up by chef José Avillez of two Michelin-starred restaurant Belcanto in Lisbon, and the Warayaki-style Japanese steakhouse Netsu, which will see Australian-born chef Ross Shonhan serving up authentic Japanese cuisine.
Elsewhere, The Bay - a brasserie-style ground floor restaurant with show-kitchens – will be joined by the elegant Noor Lounge as well as The Mandarin Cake Shop. The F&B programme, bars and speciality outlets have been designed by Silverfox Studios, whilst the same studio has also overseen the design of the hotel’s expansive, 2,000m² spa – comprising nine treatment rooms, a VIP Royal Suite, heat and water experiences and a fitness centre.
