I’ve always believed in the healing and educational power of travel. And now that I’m a not-so-new dad of a 6-year old (who has more stamps in his second passport than I had when I was 27!) I’m an even stronger advocate for traveling with your kids at every age, as long as, ahem, a minimum level of “luxury” is available for the parents.

First, traveling with kids is fun. Sure it can be hard, but in my opinion and experience, the fun, and laughs and love that bubbles to the surface when you go on an extended trip with your kids far outweighs the inevitable, and very temporary “melt downs” that can happen. In fact, traveling with kids opens the whole family up to experiences and memories that would never happen any other way. And according to a recent study by a the Student & Youth Travel Association, there’s proof that kids who travel benefit in a myriad of ways including superior performance in school.
